A new boat moved into the slip next to me. It looks just like my H37C, only smaller. The owner said it was a 1984 model (and he didn't know what a Cherubini was!!). I checked the photo forum and it shows 30 foot Cherubinis were made up until 1983??? Am I off here or is he wrong in saying it is a 1984??? Thanks Ron/KA5HZV

Think HOW is right.

Check his serial number on the transom Ron. There are 212 H30's in the HOW owner's directory. Not one 1984. However there is a 1985 in Cincinatti! Obviously a typo. But what happened between the 1983 H30 and the 1988 H30? Speaking of new dockmates, an H376 showed up beside me. Cut off the swim platform and it's shorter than my H37C. But it's TWICE as big. Figure that one.

Four ports

If it is a later Cherubini 30, it should have four opening ports on each side. If it has five, it might be a 33.

1986 Cherubini 30'

I own a 30' 1986 Cherubini with 86' hull #. This boat was sold as a kit boat by Hunter as a Hunter/Quest. Owners were able to order this boat as a kit for modification of interiors. This is what previous owners have told me and the docs that came with the boat actually support it. My boat is identical to the pre 83 models.

I remember the ads

for Quest boats. They used to have a picture of what obviously was a 33, and their address was a familiar one in Alachua, Florida. I guess there were people who still wanted the Cherubini's after Hunter changed the models.Speaking of which, you will see that the Cherubini 37 was made for quite awhile after the other Cherubini's went out of production. At the time, I remember hearing that Hunter tried to end their production, but the demand was so great that they went on with the Cherubini 37 for a couple more years until substituting the new 37. Always annoyed me, since the first Cherubini to be pulled was the 33, with which I have always been greatly in love! The first of the new Hunters was the 34, which was way bigger than the 33, by the way. The boat that more closely replaced the 33 was the 31. I am sure that JC II could give us some great insight into those changes and Quest Boats.
