Cheezy Hatch Lock

Was going out to the boat today to check lines because of theforecasted high winds today. When I went to unlock the companionway hatch, the lock came apart in several plastic peices and a couple of springs. I couldn't put hunpty dumpty together again. Has anyone else experienced this with a H-33 hatch?

Hey Juice,

I have followed your process with the delivery of your 33, congratulations. It's a nice boat, but I am a little biased!!! (I just registered at SBO today)
I had a break in last year and the latch was broken by pushing on the companionway hatch. A lock only keeps an honest man out. Originally I glued it together as a temporary repair but I purchased a new one from Hunter. It is easy to replace. I have found that you have to lift on the key, raising the top door up, and then turn the key to fully release the lock pin.

The replacement came in the mail today. The price for the thing is as outrageous as it's cheap construction. Upgrade #1, get some ZARCOR doors.
