pretty much got my mind made up and my foot up on the rock. fix what's wrong, provision and head down the ditch. yes i'm serious. i can't stand it any more. the wifey is on-board with the idea and would be good and welcome for the trip. she has a full time job that she can't walk away from. i on the other hand can put the word out, "I have do do this!" my customers know and love me and wouldn't expect anything less.
the situation in the gulf is not gonna get any better. I am still capable. if i have a place to live, i can help with the efforts there. in short move over, make room. take her loves to liz.
I'm headed south. for those of you who can imagine.." sitting in a place nice and quiet and all of a sudden some some dude grabs a girl and slaps on her" are you gonna just sit there? NO! I'm stupid. I'm gonna go get my ass whooped. but that will be after the fight.
point is.. I just can't sit here and enjoy my life with this crap goin on.
any pointers or dock locations in the area would be welcome. plan to depart mid July, God willing. got good support on the home front and jars and jars of change.... semper fi and mom's apple pie, i'm headed for the NEW gulf war. zee.. did you see this comeing?
oh! the pics... the macerator is locked up. the three pronged thingy is threaded on. the shaft has a flat. and the third stage is a rubber impeller! whoosh! and it's stinky! buy a new one. a quiet one so you don't wake up your mates in the wee hours. wish me luck.. jimbob

Before you go, learn to can food and get a pressure cooker. You can save an awful lot of money if you don't eat out. But fresh food don't keep very long so you must have refrigeration or shop every other day if you don't have other means of food preservation.

I hate to be a wet blanket

But they, whoever they may be, are pretty much shutting down any individual efforts, and getting hired officially is a crap shoot. There are some individuals down around Grand Isle, Venice and some other areas down that way doing their own clean up, but there is nothing organized, as far as I know. BP is sub contracting out all the clean up, and the subs are apparently only hiring from the bottom of the barrel. I heard today that of 84 workers taking a drug test, 62 failed it. What areas you can get to are also a toss up, and seem to change daily. Harbors and marinas are boomed off without much warning, and it is almost impossible to find out what and where, unless you know someone there. The Rigolets coming into Ponchatrain is still open, but there has been some oil in there, so that may change any day. If you get too close to any boom, clean up worker or "official" boat they will hammer you. I wish I could be of more help, or sound more encouraging, but even though I live here, and listen to every bit of info. I can, I still don't know squat about what is really going on, till after the fact. Your smooth running, well organized gummit has things well in hand. NOT
