Different stroke for Different folks

Hi Rick - I've seen a few of those Gemini Cats around Puget Sound. It's one of those "great, if you like that sorta thing" type deals. Plenty of deck space, tough to get moorage, not exactly speedy for a multi-hull, and aesthetics? Well, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I've never sailed one, so take my opinion with a grain of salt! Trevor

I'm 95% sure that Sail Magazine did a comparison between this boat and a monohull of similar length. Light breeze, strong breeze, comfort etc. It was sometime over last winter I believe. If it wasn't this boat it was very similar. Interesting read - If I remember correctly, their biggest gripe was visibility at the helm.

Gemini

Club member had an older Gemini. It had amazing room for its size, an intelligent layout, huge stoage in the bow and not a lot of pointing ability. Would pick up her skirts on a breezy reach, tho. Not much for light air. Had to have an end-tie and the associated bother of a large beam. Having said all that, certainly seemed like a quality boat worth having if you understood tha limitations going in. Rick D.

Great for "in shore" sailing.....I would not want to be on one that "flips" off-shore.

Some people like the monohull, some people like the multihull. I like the look of it. It folds down to 8.5 ft which is convenient for trailering. If a nice deck is what you're looking for, this has it. One question would be the strength of the outer hull attachment assembly to the main hull.

Lets see,

I read Sail's comparo of the 105 with the Bene 373 which sorta gave the nod to the cat in performance and room. Now let's try it again with a real world scenario with all your tools, spare parts, provisions and cruising stuff that most like to bring along if we're heading out for more than a few days. The cat's performance will suffer significantly compared to the mono's. We've got several Gemini's in our area and we blow by them every time. We've even raced 'em in regattas (we have a Hunter 40)and the result's the same. For scooting around the bay I bet they're great with a light load and shallow draft. They're neat little cats but take the performance 'advantage' the manufacturers trumpet with a grain of salt. Going to weather in big seas can be a big problem. The Gemini points well with those centerboards but that 39" bridgedeck clearance will disappear in a hurry and then you're slamming hard. More room? On deck, yup. Below? kinda, but it's all divided up. We like the great room effect of our big mono. Just my opinion of course. You can't tell I'm biased can you?

Here kitty

A great boat the 105C is a wonderful, stable boat, and a great sailing vessel. My dad has one, and it is loaded with everything. The waiting list is long and they only make about three a month, so be patient. A great boat. *5
