Cheap Chart Plotter

I helped sail a 43ft Cat back from the Whiitsundays to Brisbane (around 600 miles) last month and one of the crew had a new iPhone with the Navionics Gold software on it.
The boat had an old plotter with a C Chart which was far less accurate than the Navionics.
We navigated down the coast, up to 60 miles off shore, through a myriad of reefs and islands with the iPhone blue-tacked to the helm!
So if you have an iPhone this is a cheap standby plotter. I have since bought one and the Navionics download is $99 Aust which is much cheaper than the software for the plotters.
Also a good excuse for buying an iPhone "It's for your safety at sea dear"

Could not agrre more with your com,ments re. the utility of the I phone.
Only comment I can add is the Navionics application via I tunes was only A$15-00.
