Chasing Leaks

Have traced a leak on my new(used) 27 to a port stanchion base.Am new at this so will appreciate any hints at best way to remove,reseat,reinstall.Would just recaulking around holes and retightening work?Thanks

I suggest you pull stantion completly. Easier with two people, but if only you, use vise grips on nuts so they wont turn. Clean off all old material on boat and base. Apply sealant (I use silicon), set in place with bolts,let set for fifteen minutes. Tighten bolts lightly,let set for an hour,then tighten firmly. I also have an older h27. Had same problem as you. I also had to retighten all toerail bolts, no recaulking. This stopped all leaks. Good luck red
