We used...

Sea Mist Sailing out of Marina del Ray several years ago. They usually advertise in the back pages of Sail, Cruising World, etc. You might look at <marinasailing.com> as well, their ad says "80 sailboats at 6 locations, 27-50'". The main advice I would give is you want to start your trip on a Wed. or Thur. You can't just sail into Catalina on a Friday afternoon and find a mooring, not going to happen. It's a good thing to plan this way out in the future.

Catalina Island

I can't give any advice on who to charter from but Honeyman is correct when advising to not arrive at Catalina on a weekend during the Summer. I always arrive on Sunday afternoon. There is always a big exodus on Sunday so I have never had a problem finding moorings at this time and it gives you a chance to be located for the next weekend without fear of being without a mooring. Make sure you plan on visiting more than Avalon harbor. Lots of interesting places at the isthmus.

Hi Roy, Seamist sounds like a good deal. You get a dingy and motor with a lot of the boats and you get to spend the night before on the boat instead of a motel and you don't have to have it back on the last day until 6pm. here is the link http://www.seamist-skippers.com/index.html
