Charlie,
I found this blurb on the Navionics App page.
"Plotter Sync
Raymarine Wi-Fi plotter owners can transfer routes and markers, upload sonar logs for enhanced SonarCharts™ and update their eligible plotter card through the Boating app. Visit Plotter Sync to learn more."

I use the Navionics App on my iPad and it does have a selection for synching with your WiFi chart plotter.

Do you mind me asking where you purchased yours and what chart set did you get?

Ward: Thanks for the info, I will check out the Navionics app. I am hoping I can get that up and working on the iPad without having to buy another set of charts.

I purchased from an online company called Anchor Express and got the NAG - North America Gold charts. Invoice says T70203-NAG Raymarine a78 Wi-Fi 7" MFD with CHIRP Downvison, ClearPulse & CPT-100 - Navionics North America Gold

I should add they supply you with a transom mount transducer for the sonar. I don't plan on mounting it since running an exposed wire down my transom is unacceptable. To use it initially I plan on mounting it to a pole that I can clip to my swim ladder and stow it in a cockpit locker when not in use. If I like it and use it enough I will get a thru hull transducer later on.

Ward,

I use a separate chartplotter & fishfinder...........

Heh, heh.... hold on to your hats... but I'm going to agree with the Cap'n on this one... I like redundant instruments that stand alone.. so an inexpensive fishfinder and a separate chartplotter... along with the other stuff you mentioned plus a hand held GPS and a couple of radios.... sounds a lot safer than an all in one do everything device.. 'cause what happens if it breaks????? not only will you be lost, you won't be able to find any fish for dinner!

You can buy this Lowrance fishfinder with transducer online for $99.00. making your "deal" somewhat irrelevant.

Transom mount transducers work just like puck type transducers. Stick it down to the inside of the hull with plumbers putty and it will work great.

Yep, that is why I am leaning towards the Raymarine Chart Plotter. I like Navionics and use that now on my iPad and being able to save my sonar logs appeals to me.
I've been looking at how to upgrade charts from various manufactures as that can be costly but Navionics appears to have that issue solved.
Yeah, if you're looking to update charts you have, Navionics has the Updates card -- if you bring an old card (can be from any manufacturer) to a store, you can get the Navionics+ update card for around $100 or so. If you go to the store, you end up with two SD cards but I'm pretty sure you can update online too, but you lose what was on that original SD card previously.
