Multifunction Displays

All of the major marine electronics companies offer multi-function displays, that are capable of showing the information you are asking for, but you need to pay for extra software/maps/receivers, in order to do it. We have a Raymarine C-Series display which is capable of becoming a Plotter, Fish Finder, and Radar, and can talk(pull information) directly from different speedos/depth sounders. In some cases it can also display engine information such as RPM, fuel levels, etc. I would suggest you contact two or three of the major suppliers, and ask them to come back to you with a proposal. I can tell you it won't be cheap though, especially if its a fully integrated decision. You should be thinking about screen size, and do some research into the different brands so that you can make an appropriate decision. Cruising World had a recent article comparing 13 different chartplotters/radars(sometime between Feb. and June), and I know there have been articles in Sail.

everywhere

Hello, There are many many choices for what you are looking for. I have a Lowrance unit, the LMS337 CDF. It is a GPS chartplotter with a high resolution 5" color display, 50 and 200 hz sonar unit, and it comes with a speed paddlewheel unit for measuring speed through water. My unit is not longer made, the 527 is the new model. You can even connect a Lowrance radar to it. Humminbird, Raymarine, Garmin, Standard Horizon, etc. all make comparable units. I can tell you that Lowrance will probably by the cheapest, and by a lot! I paid $499 for mine at a closeout. The newer model is about $600 - 700. You can buy them almost everywhere, Westmarine, Defender, BoatersWorld, etc. Good luck, Barry

multi-function displays

As memntioned , there are many to choose from. In doing some research, I have found that many depth finders report depth as to lat / long on chart rather than actuall depth such as a fish finder would. I have a ubit that actually works like sonar to paint not only the bottom but also any objects floating below the surface like, fish, logs, etc: The unit i have was bought from West marine on close out price but company is still in business. comes outta the box with wide screen color display , quick release mount, and 12 ch reciver . If you can find obe at a west marine store the price is abt $500.00. Made by INTERPHASE and looks forward almost 1200 feet . link below has videos to explain.

Humminbird

I need to replace a broken depthfinder and I've been looking at some of the more inexpensive combos. Humminbird has a 161 and 363 that go for around 250 or less. They're black and white with a built-in map (no idea of the quality) and no ability to upload better ones, but it'll give you the basic fishfinder and gps. I always keep paper charts so I'm not too concerned about chart quality. Ebay is generally a decent place to shop also.
