Chart Navigator data to Garmin MapSource?

I would like to plan waypoints and routes in MapTech's Chart Navigator software and then transfer the data to Garmin's MapSource software. The MapSource software will write the data to my USB data card that I can then use to transfer the data to my GPSMAP 492. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this task? Chart Navigator will not output the Garmin format for direct import into MapSource. The only reason to use MapSource is that it will easily write the waypoints and route data to my USB programmer and data card and that data card is easily read by the GPSMAP 492. I have looked for a data conversion utility, but have not found one that I can get to work. I have tried EasyGPS and GPSU. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Advice?

I've been triyng to figure this out too, for a while. I think we need to write a converter for the ENC files.

Cant stop trying to figure it out!

NOAA has a section, DIRECT TO GIS nauticalcharts noaa gov/csdl/ctp/encdirect_new.htm That can output shape files. Then you need cgpsmapper www cgpsmapper com to convert .shp to .img Im still working on getting this step smooth! then finally ftp:// vbbartlett dyndns org/ Manager.zip That will put a .img into mapsource, bypassing all this "polish format" stuff that I don't understand. This program, even at version 0.0.1 works well with a test .img file from cgpsmapper. I just need to finalize the .shp (or many other formats offered by direct to gis) into a .img file

Brian, I'm working with a program called.....

GPSBable that will convert between different charting formats. I don't have the full solution yet, but stay tuned. See the attached link.

Took a look...

But it doesn't move maps..just waypoints, tracks, routes. Things you can draw into mapsource yourself, if you want. I guess you could trace a shoreline with a "track" and save it to get an outline, but it won't integrate into the GPS map as map data, and will be easy to accidently delete.
