You can anchor on the South side of the city in the river right across from the marinas. There is a traffic bridge and the anchorage is right near the entrance to the ICW going south out of the city. Go on a horse and buggy ride, very informative of the history of the city and the architecture. Unfortunately my nephew moved North to Boston so I don't have anyone to stay with down there any more. The nerve of the kid. Quite unacceptable. You will love Charleston but probably not the congestion after a while. Visiting the Yorktown is also a great activity they also have a sub and a detroyer I believe.
