You are cordially invited to participate in the Mid-Atlantic States largest freshwater charity sailing event, the 5th annual "Pursuit Of Sailing Regatta". The benefactor is the "Chuck Strange Foundation" The funds are used for their adaptive sailing program for the disabled. The regatta will be held on the 55,000 acre Lake Norman, just 30 minutes north of Charlotte, NC. Plenty of new ramps and facilities are available. This event is for both the novice sailor who has never participated in an organized sailing event and the hardcore, seasoned Key West pro. The event is raced in a "pursuit format", where the slowest boat by rating will start first and the fastest boat by rating will start last. Vessels are assigned a starting time for each boat. Most often there's only one boat at a time in the starting area. There will be a rules seminar held prior to Friday night's welcome party for those who would like to attend. Our goal is to make this a simple, fun, family, sailing event. Last year's event drew 56 entries from several states. This year's event will again be sponsored by Hunter Marine, along with the Lake Norman, Peninsula, and Outrigger Yacht Clubs of Lake Norman and Select Yachts. If you would like to participate in this event you may respond by e mail to doylenc@cs.com or by mail to, Select Yachts, 1598 N. Hwy. 16, Denver, NC. And by phone 704-483-6656.
