Charging the Boat

I've solved my GFCI issue and have also installed two new batteries. The boat has a Statpower 10 amp charger for two batteries...question...my original dealer said to always leave the battery selector on "Both I when leaving the club.
I've done this for 26 years...but I believe I saw somewhere on the forum this
is not longer recommended and that it is better not to leave the charger on "Off" when leaving the boat...so I set it to off today...did I do the right thing? I'll be back out there tomorrow so can change if you think it best. Pat

Are you asking two different questions:

1. leave battery selector on both, and
2. leave charger on/off?
3.???

The charger should be connected directly to the batteries bypassing the switch so q #1 is moot unless it is wired incorrectly.

If you have the bilge pump connected directly to the batteries as it should be and nothing else is running, e.g., refrigeration, you can leave the charger off unless your batteries are low and require charging.
