Probably dumb question!, but does it hurt anything to use your interior lights or any internal equipment while you are charging your battery? I know there is no thing such as "dumb question", unless you ask the first mate about some of my questions.
Using power while charging may slow your charge time, but will not cause problems. If you have halogen lights, and charge in the 14.5 volt range, this may shorten your lamp life.
