I am about to replace my OEM charger on a Cat 310 #23. I am switching from a charles to a Xantrex 20. Any issues I need to be aware of?? Thanks John

I changed my whole system

John, When I changed to the same battery charger that you're changing to (Xentrex 20+) I also changed my whole electrical system. I gave away my 4D house battery and added 4 golf cart batteries doubling my amps. I disabled my regulator on the engine and added a Smart regulator in the engine room. I then added a combiner between the starting battery and the house batteries. Best of all I added a Link 20 monitor so I can see what the status of my batteries are.... This probably would not affect you, but I also changed my startting battery to a Group 27 deep discharge because it is wired to a built in solar power cell (from the factory). It was over charging just with the sun (quit laughing--I know I live in the Pacific Northwest) That seem to help but I still have to add water to that battery more than the others. The result is that I can sit on the hook for three days and not run the engine while running my freezer and refrigerator as well as other devices in the boat. Another result is that I'm now going on my sixth year with the same batteries. And they are still going great. I suspect I will see some drop off this year but who knows. I can't say enough good about the Xentrex 20--it does everything except make coffee. I wish you well. Les
