Charger change-out question

I have just ordered a new Sterling PCU 60A charger, but my three 8D Batteries Plus batteries are about toast. I think they were just poorly maintained by the PO and are old. Anyway, while I have plans to replace them with US Battery GC2's in the not-so-distant-future, should I just wait to install the charger or would it extend the life (somehow) of my old 8D's? We go on-the-hard for the next month and it is a good time to swap out the charger, but am not sure I can get to the batteries. Besides, changing out batteries is just as easy in the water. Swapping out the charger is not.

Thanks!

There is never a bad time to install a quality charger unless major wiring changes are planned in the future that would require re-wiring it again at a later date... Flooded 4D & 8D batteries are best left to engine starting duties on big sort fishing or power boats and are not well suited to deep cycling.

Yea... Haven't done that yet. We are changing out the stuffing boxes to dripless and I'll need to rework the bonding system in that area of the engine room anyway. It will be a simple run from there to the new charger, but I ran out of time and supplies... But I promise... Chassis bond will get there sooner rather than later. Thanks!
