What is the best way to keep my batteries charged other than runnung the motor?

charging

If you have shore power you can install an on-board charger. If no shore power you can install a solar panel charger. Both are available from marine stores.

Be careful with shore power chargers

If you leave the boat for long periods of time, invest in a smart (3 stage) charger that can do float charging. Cheaper chargers will cook the batteries if you leave it connected all the time.

Be careful

My experience is in solar water pumps for cattle watering. Be careful of solar chargers without controllers. Contact RealGoods for expert advice. Better advice than ANY I've seen on line. Tell them the application and go from there. VERY HELPFUL! I don't have their website but a search will find them. Good luck
