That's cool. I think the FCC wants you to return units to manufacturers, or see a dealer to have that done. Now Standard Horizon requires an email from you with some info, and sends you a code so you can do it.

So a couple of questions s to add..... reading my installation manual for my new Garmin 800 AIS, when talking about programming the unit it says enter ship name, call sign, dimensions, vessel type and mmsi number. What is a call sign??

A call sign is for a radio station license, if you don't have one, don't enter one.

Just read you get a unique call sing when you register through fcc for international MMSI.
