Im going to change my controls from the lower starbord cockpit side up to the pedestal. Has anyone done this and what did you use to connect to the engine to reverse pull/push (forward/reverse) cable. The speed control should be very easy but I'm concerned about the forward/reverse control. Thanks Bob

what year is your h30? Mine is a '76 and the pedestal is a Yacht Specialties which I can't even get a brake for let alone adapt it for engine controls. Let me know how you make out.

My 76 h30 has an Edson. I have also thought of doing this. The parts are available from Edson for this, but are pricey. Good Luck Royce

I've changed both controls from the lower cockpit to pedestal and it seems to be working OK. I had to reuse the connection that holds the shifter cable in place and transfer to engine. It's a bracket, connected to rear of engine and had to make a L shape bracket to connect the other bracket to. Any questions let me know.

Changing Controls

Well for starters you'll probably have to get 1 or both cables. For the shifter cable you need to measure from the top of pedestal down to bottom, make a wide turn to starboard then to the front of your engine and back to the shifter lever. This gives you room so you don't crimp the cable. You need to move or manufacture a bracket to hold your outer cable to the engine so the inner cable can do the shifting. The RPM cable can go from the top of pedestal to the bottom with a turn so there's no crimp and go straight to speed connection. I purchased the kit for the upper pedestal from Edson which gives to the two levers and connections for the cables. Well that's about it but there are directions with pictures on the Edson web site showing all connections, etc. Let me know how it works out for you. Bob
