Changing Outhaul

I am planning on changing my outhaul setup and running it down the mast and back to a clutch. It looks like it will be no big deal to take the front fitting off the boom and change out the line for a longer one. Anyone done this and is it as easy as it seems?

This is on my project list as well. It doesn't appear to be too difficult...hopefully the end cap fitting comes off without too much problem.
