Hello to all, My Cat 30 is hauled for some repairs and a bottom job right now. I am trying to change the marelon vavle under the galley sink. I put a wrench on the plastic nut on the seacock, but the threads under the vavle are still turning. Is this the way to change it, or should I go under the boat and try to put something in there to stop it from turning. Thanks, Russ

At this point...

.. you've broken the caulk seal at the the thru-hull fitting, so you'll probably want to remove the thru-hull and re-seal it so it doesn't leak when you're done. What's the thru-hull fitting made of? At least some of them have a slot in them on the outside portion that you can put a blade of some sort into to keep it from turning while you unscrew the valve on the inside. Of course, that makes it a two-man job unless your arms are 12 feet long. :) The valve should just screw off the through-hull once you can get it to stop turning while you loosen it.
