Another mystery.... The fuel tank sensor/metering rod needs changing. It is approx 20" long. There is about 5 inches of clearance above it. How does it come out?

If like mine it is twisted and rotated after disconnecting the wires and unscrewing the base from the tank.

Once removed I tossed and replaced with one that looks like this.

Important to get hole pattern on the tank to match with the sensor to properly mount.

Enquiring minds want to know, how does the float get to the bottom of the tank with the rod that short ? My WEMA sensor is about 20" long to get to the bottom of the fuel tank. Fortunately, unlimited overhead to remove the sensor.

On my 340 its the same as “jssailem“ describes. While I had open access after removing the hatch above the tank the surrounding fiberglass does make it hard to remove. It takes some twisting to get it out. But since your replacing it you can bend the float rod some to help ease it out.
