I have a (new to me) 1996 42 Passage, and one of the ceiling lights in the main salon (round 6", white base) does not work. I suspect it's just the bulb because it was working previously. I have tried many different ways of getting either the clear round lens out or off the base to check the bulb and for the life of me there must be a secret to it. I don't want to force it anymore and break it. How does the lens come out? Does the entire light come off the ceiling and you get to it that way?

Thanks

The clear lens does not come off separately. Grab the whilte ring and while pushing against the surface rotate CCW slightly and it will unlock from the attached base. I think the light uses a festoon style bulb.

Thanks for the reply however these suckers aren't turning either way. Could be because they're old and stuck. Hmmm I'm about to get out a screw driver

Mine pop out with a small screw driver and snap right back in.

I have 3 on my H-36 2 in the head and 1 in rear berth, mine wwork fine but would like to see what bulb and maybe change them to LED"s like the other lights on the boat which had G4 and I switched to Led's.
But I can't get the lens off or the white ring to twist, the lens turns but won't ccome off.

Thanks Seadaddler! That did it. Wiggled the bulb and now it works. Time for a Corona!
