Changing aft heads toilet from manual to electric Legend 41AC

Hi all,

Thinking of changing the current Jabsco manual twist n lock aft heads toilet to an electric version.

Anyone done this conversion and was it simple enough?

What model electric toilet people recommend (Jabsco?).

Fresh water or salt water flush (which is quieter etc)?

I replaced my Jabsco with a Raritan Elegance. The Jabsco conversion would have left me with the little round bowl. The Elegance is a full size bowl and sits an inch higher.

I replaced my hand pump with an electric macerating head. One thing that I need to overcome was because of the electric motor , the footprint was different. The difference was complicated by the sloping hull coming into the platform that the head mounts on. The fix was to buy. a 1x8x8 PVC plank and cut it 4 square pieces from it. The 4 were stacked and thru screwed into the platform. The head was then mounted upon the 4" high PVC block.. The Admiral was very happy with push button service and ecstatic to have an ADA throne in out head...

I bought the slope back model of the Elegance, and the footprint is different. I sealed the old holes with plastic plugs from Menards. The only thing left to do is raise the teak shower seat an. I'm on the fence on whether or not to reinstall it. We've never showered on board and honestly it's nice having it out, but we're going to move the boat to Florida next summer and having the seat might be nice.

When installing any electric toilet, the plumbing is easy...but the wiring is critical. It needs to be on its own dedicated circuit with its own breaker, shared by nothing else, not even cabin lights...low voltage to any electric motor will damage it and is the most common cause of sluggish discharge. The correct wire size for the ROUND TRIP distance from the power source to the toilet is very important too. That information will be in the "Installation, Operation and Maintenance Instructions" that will come with the toilet you buy....read and follow them to prevent problems later.

I was lucky, my boat had an electric head option. The correct size breaker and wiring were preinstalled at the factory and routed to the location needed for the controller and toilet. It was actually pretty straight forward.
