Peggy I have followed the list for some time now and have a manual Jabsco head that is near at least a flapper gasket in the top of the pump. I am considering replacing it with a Raritan PHII- do you still recommend it and if so, have any recommendations on where to find a good price on one. Do you by chance know if there is a footprint showing the mounting holes so I can see how many will show after removing the Jabsco? I will need it to set it up with the pump on the left because of the longer handle on the pump. One other question, I am on a fresh water lake and just put K.O. in last Sunday for the first time on your recommendation, I notice you are talking about Odorlos more and more- which do you think will work best with fresh water intake and factory small vent line. Thanks a bunch, I enjoy reading your list.

Not a lot of difference in the footprint

Mike: There is not a lot of difference in the footprint between the PHII & the Jabsco. I replaced a Jabsco with a PHII in my Hunter 31. It was just slightly deeper (using one of the original mounting holes). I think it may be an inch or so wider overall too. What type of boat do you have and how much room do you have to adjust fore/aft & left/right?

Steve- I have a Hunter 356

and have room side to side, but not much at all front to back. The head is mounted on a raised platform and nearly touches the hull liner in the rear. How long have you had yours and are you happy with it. How much difference in water comsumption? Thanks, Mike

You'll find all the dimension here...

And yes, I DO continue to reocmmend it...the PH II continues to be consistently rated the best manual toilet <$500 as it has been for decades. Defender http://www.defender.co) usually has a good price...and so does boatfix http://www.boatfix.com/elec/rarph2.asp

Great unit

Mike: We had this head on our old '85 H'31 for about 3-4 years without any problems. We sold the boat in 2006 and it is still working fine. The PH II is easier to pump because of the longer handle. You will see some of these PH II's on commercial fishing boats. They are very durable. We purchased a new boat 1994 HV'36 and replaced the Jabsco with an electric Raritan Sea Era. I honestly think that these electric heads use less water (don't know if that is fact or fiction).

Yep, PH II...

on our 35.5 and love it. Just wish they'd move raw water intake to the rear instead of front ;) !
