I found the knee covers were completelly shot and need replacing on 4 of the 6 knees (3 port, and the forward starboard). I could just replace the covers with 1/2 inch Meranti and put the caps back on, but before I do, I am soliciting ideas for what others may have done. The fiber glass tabbing looks to be in good shape, the aft port knee has a little mold on it (needs a good cleaning) but is currently solid.

When I bought my H33, water was coming through the chain plates and I had deck core rot a good ten inches around each one. I repaired the deck and I knew that the "knees" were next.
It took three years to get around to do it and since I was scraping off the old hull carper liner, I made a point of unbolting the chain plates to take off the rotted plywood. I used them as templates on 1/2 birch plywood. I warmed up the new pieces with a heat gun and sealed the back side, edges and the holes with epoxy. The exposed side is finished with semi-gloss urethane.

The birch looks nice. Well done. Did you put the teak caps back on?
