Oh yes....
John,I purchased a C30 TRBS in Feb. She also has this problem. Typically the original chainplate arrangement causes the bulkeads (especially starboard)to rise and also makes the decks warp. My storage cabinet on the starboard side is actually pulled enough out of shape to make opening and closing the doors to the hanging locker difficult. Check the archives, there is a fair amount posted about this. I just finished installing the chainplate upgrade I acquired from the Catalina factory. The upgrade replace the original single eye lower shroud "chainplates" (4) with u-bolts. It also includes larger angle plates inside. There has been some disagreement as to whether it is better to leave the tweaked (raised) deck alone or to make efforts to straighten it out when doing the upgrades. I opted for leaving the deck the way it was. It looks fine to the eye above and below and there are no cracks. What I have planned, when I next have a work day on the boat, is to release the upper shrouds, straighten out the starboard locker and lower both the bulkheads back to the original positions and fasten them to the inner liner at the bottom. I will probably shim the gaps at the top between the bulkheads and deck and add second straps on each bulkhead (attatching them to the bottom of the original chainplate straps) so as to eliminate movement in the slightly elongated holes in the original chainplate straps.I have been taking digital pics of all my mods and upgrades as I have worked on the boat. I will eventually publish them on the web. Menwhile feel free to email me if you wish at cg2chris@pacbell.netChris
