Chain Plate Bolts

Hi Sailors,

Just became the proud owner of an 89 500 Oceanis. She's in very good shape, but among a few other things that need attention, the bolts holding the chain plates in have badly corroded and need to come out. The question is, how do you get at them to get them out? They are hidden behind the cabinets in the forward heads. Anybody on the forum done this before in one of the bigger Oceanis? Can the sink be removed? Do you come at 'em through the cabinet? I don't want to break anything I don't have to, but those bolts gotta come out.

Thanks in Advance - Chris

Joe

Maybe Beneteau customer service would have some ideas if you don't get any response from the folks here.

In need of same info. Chis, how did you proceed? for everyone else, if there is a leak through the hull level chain plate fittings the water will accumulate between the hull and the glassed in stringer that the chain plate straddles. This fills up and rusts the bolt… and hopefully no damage to stringer. Yet to be determined.
