Monday morning the Coast Guard rescued six people from stormy seas off the coast of NC. Apparently, two to three more vessels are distressed further offshore. I came back from the NC Outer Banks yesterday (wedding, not sailing (un)fortunately?) and the wind was really beginning to blow. I didn't see one sailing vessel in the ocean all weekend. I also got to witness the CG running some training exercises close to the shore near Kill Devil Hills, it is great to know that these brave people are on the ready for us... but I hope I never get to use their services!
