Cetol Marine or Cetol Light

I have read numerous reports about individuals using Cetol Light to finish exterior teak, but what about Cetol Marine?Greg W

Cetol Works

I have used CETOL MARINE and CETOL GLOSS for many years. If you are not a traditionalist CETOL will be the best for the money. I apply 2 coats of CETOL MARINE to bare wood and then finish off with at least 2-3 coats of CETOL GLOSS. I live in a subtropical climate and the boat stays in the water all year round and the bright work stays looking great. I apply a single maintenance coat of CETOL GLOSS about once a year or when it looks like it needs it. I just wipe the wood off and apply a new coat even without sanding again. I don't have any experience with the CETOL LIGHT, I think it is a realativly new product.

I have used all three Cetol's !

I have used all teak tricks, oil, varnish, Cetol, regular, light and gloss. This year Cetol "Teak" came out, so I stripped my wood, and refinished it with Cetol "Teak". It came out just like varnish, without the orange tint of the regular, or the bland "light" color. I put on 3 coats of "teak", then overcoated it with one Cetol Gloss coat. It looks GREAT to me, the look of varnish, without all the coats and work!!

you got everything right but the full name! The "teak" look stuff is called Cetol "NATURAL teak". I tried it this year (after using plain cetol followed by gloss for years) and think it looks much better too. Even here in Manteo! (g)
