Last spring I applied 3 coats of Cetol to the teak trim on my 1988 30' TR. I had stripped and sanded all the teak before hand and applied the Cetol according to the manufacturer's specifications. After a full season and the winter, it still looks great except in one small area. I'd like to add one more protective coat this season. Here's my question: Do I need to re-sand it before putting on a fresh coat or will a good cleaning and rub down with something like acetone suffice? I've seen other people on my slip just slap on another coat each season with no prep work (Meaning no sanding) and they don't seem to have any problems with peeling, etc. I'd like to hear how other's have prepped their Cetol for a single coat after the underlying coats have been on for a year or longer but are in othewise good condition. I'd like to avoid the mess of sanding if I can.

No sanding required..

I've used Cetol for about 10 yrs now and never sanded. I believe it even says on the can no sanding required. Just a good washing with soap (no special soap), a good water rinse and dry is all that is required. I have always given my boat 1 maintenance coat annually.
