Although I didn't measure it, my centerboard appeared to be about 14-16 inches "tall". I had about 18 inches of clearance, and that would have been enough, had the cable been a little longer! As it turned out, the centerboard was in excellent shape and I didn't need to do anything to it. Must have been preserved having been completely enclosed in rust/paint/unidentifyable crud!
