Centreboard Line

Does anyone know if you need to remove the centreboard to replace the line that hauls it up? I am going to lift it off its trailer to paint the bottom and I am considering replacing the line at the same time if it is an easy job. Anyone done it?

Doug, I am doing the same to my 95 H26 and

it requires dropping the board to replace the line. It doesn't appear too hard to do other than raising the boat off the trailer. From what I've been able to learn about this task leads me to believe that the board does'nt need to be so high that the board is totally lowered into the vertical running mode. I'm fairly sure that the board can be dropped while still in the horazontial position. It also allows painting all the board and painting the board cavity.RayS/V Speedy

Center Board Line

This is probably one of the most frequently asked questions. Check the archives, there's bound to be many articles.You will have to drop the CB to attach and run your new line. There is a nut (1 1/4 I believe) that holds the aluminum housing to the boat. Break it loose, and the CB will drop right out. Remember to 5200 the nut back in place. If your boat is off the ground, I would rate this job as a 4 on the difficulty chart.... 10 being able to take time off work during the middle of the week, to set sail. Good luck

Clearence

I have had this out on a 260 on a boat lift. The clearence required is the board in the horizontal position plus about 2" to 3" for the bracket the board swings on. It is actually easier to do this in the horizontal position, as you can support the weight of the board at the center to minimize the effort of lining up the bracket for insertion of the bolt.Jeff Peltier
