Centerboard washers

I purchased a 1972 Mariner back in November and am still in the process of restoring it.One of the things that I did was to take out the centerboard (all 200 pounds of it)so that I could sand and paint it.There are two rubber washers cabin side of the trunk, those I got from Stewart Marine.There are two larger rubber washers that fit over the board itself, waterside of the trunk,these I am having trouble getting from Stewart Marine. Does anyone have or know of a source for these types of washers,or has done this replacement before?Any help would greatly appreciated,as my board is done and waiting to go back in.Thanks,Bob

Bob -I haven't seen the washers you're talking about - how big are they? Diameter? Inside Diameter? Thickness? When I needed new washers for my Daysailer I was able to make what I needed from neoprene sheets. I actually made test ones from a mouse pad!Justin - O'day Owners' Web

The measurements of the washers are 3inch diameter, 1 inch inside dia., and 1/8 inch thickness. Yes, just the thickness of a mouse pad. I guess I could make them myself but was not sure how bad they were worn.Thanks for your advice.

centerboard removal

Bob, I will be doing the same job soon in my back yard. If you did not use a yard lift, did you pull the trailer from under the boat or jack the boat off the trailer to drop the centerboard?

Pull the trailer out

Just finished putting the boat back on the trailer. To answer your question,I used 4x4's supported at both ends of the boat by cement blocks and just pulled the trailer out. It worked just fine, but the only problem was when I put the board back in, finding the hole for the bronze pin, you have to fish for it. Good luck with your project.
