Has anyone ever needed to replace/fix the tube which runs through the cabin to the centerboard casing. It seems that I may have a leak at the base of this tube. Any suggestions would help. Thanks, Jed

Replaced CenterBoard Tube

I have a 1985 Oday 23 (Anniversary Edition) and I thought after 20 years it's probably time to replace that tube since a leak there would flood the boat. Therefore you need to do this when the boat is out of water. It's not that difficult. The hardest part is the access as there's no easy way to get at the tube. It's kid of a one handed operation. Remove both pipe clamps, then twist and turn rubber tube to free it up. Once loose secure the CB as the CB rope goes thru the tube. I did this while the 23 was on the hard during winter storage. I also removed the CB rope tube(PVC Tube) that the Rubber tube attaches to as it's easier to deal with CB rope then. Take the rubber tube to West Marine and make sure you get a reinforced tubing. I used Series 135 Heavy Duty water (page 289 of the 06 catalog) tubing that is reinforced with two polyester yarn spirals. I believe the interior diameter of the tube is 1 inch. Its also a good time to replace the CB rope too... Cheers
