Everyone that has responded to me, Thank You! For everyone else please be patient. This is a new project for me, and I will have plenty of questions. Which brings me to my next one. How thick are the side walls of the centerboard trunk on the fore end, top sides? I am fixing a well used DS2 and the pully mount bracket that controls the centerboard lift has pulled loose. It was held on by two, one half inch, self tapping screws. I would like to add a backing plate of one eighth aluminum to the forward side of the trunk and bed it with 5200. How long a screw is permissable in this area without intruding into the centerboard area? Thanks

Rod Johnson,

I'd call Rudy at D&R

If I understand your question, you are refering to the block screwed to the side of the CB trunk near the forward end? The fiberglass thare should be thick enough to tap and use machine screws, I think that is how mine is fastened (haven't checked yet). But your best bet would still be to give Rudy a call, he seems to know a lot about these things. I know that the top of the CB trunk is thick enough to allow drilling and tapping for screws to hold camcleats for the jibsheets (if one wished to change the newer jibsheet set up to the old one). I'll include a photo of the block that I assume you are having trouble with. D&R Marine: (508) 644-3001
