Widgeon Centerboard
I don't think that the centerboard cover comes off -- i believe that it's glued together.That doesn't mean that the centerboard cannot be gotten out, though. You can careen the hull (fancy word for laying the boat on its side) and perhaps get ahold of the centerboard firmly enough to yank it out. I've found that the lines that raise and lower the board get jammed between it and the casing, although rocks can also jam it if the boat is beached. The board can be encouraged by alternatly yanking on the back / bottom end of the board and the line.Another trick I've thought of, but not tried yet, is to drill a hole in the top of the centerboard cover, roughly 2/3 of the way towards the back. Then stick in a wood dowel and wack it to drive the board out.
