Centerboard Retention Plates

I have a 25' Oday with a centerboard. During routine maintenance and inspection, I removed the two centerboard retention plates. When reinstalling the plates the screws did not tighten. Is there a nut or something that these screws anchor to? If the nuts are stripped can they be replaced? Since the screws are not tight, it seems that the centerboard is at risk of falling completely off. Has anyone else had this problem and discovered a remedy? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Rob

It's been a long time, but if memory serves me the plates are simply screwed in. My sugestion would be to increase the size of the screw.Remember to add some silicone to the screw and hole when you install it!. The wedges that are on the inner portion of your truk should be deld close to the inner wall by either a sealant or an adhesive (5200) so the chances of 'dropping the board" are minimal. As an aside...check the wire'rope connection and the shackle to the board while you are there!

I'd fill and redrill -

Rob - For what its worth, I wouldn't increase the size of the screw. I'd take an extra day and fill the holes with epoxy mix, the redrill them. You're less likely to break the glass up that way. Then I'd use 4200 to bed the things. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
