Centerboard pennant

I have a problem! *cry I sold my O'Day 25 and along with it a new pennant for the centerboard. However, the new owners found that they have a wire pennant with a rope tailed into it. The outer cover of the line came off. They cannot life the centerboard completely. By swimming, we can lift the board easily so it is not jammed. We also removed the line and sent a wire down through the tube to reattach the line. It went easily. But we still cannot get the board to come fully up by pulling on the line. Help!!!! Is the pennant jamming?

Where the pennant attaches to the CB, is it too wide an attachment to fit in the relatively narrow slot of the CB? With marine growth, any swelling of the CB itself and the attachment clip it could all be preventing the CB from retracting completely into the CB well. Especially at the top of the CB well where it narrows slightly. You may want to consider a narrower attachment clip.Don

I agree with Don

and have a couple more Ideas....Did they redrill the connection hole for the pennant? If they moved up or down the board to far there may not be alignment with the pennant tube.If it is a wire to rope connection on the pennant, was it done with a taper or is thick through the whole splice?r.w.landau
