Hi I just got myself a 23' and I cant figure out how to let the center board come down. I have looked around the boat btu have not found a cable that appeared to have that function. Can anyone tell me how to pivot it so it comes down?
What year 23 do you have? On my 1980 O'Day 23 the centerboard is lowered with a rope pennant which is located just aft of the companionway. When raised, this line is locked around a cleat. If you have tried this and the centerboard does not come down on its own, the slot may have some debris inside. I remember some previous threads that addressed this matter.
Not sure what year your Oday 23 is. Mine is a 1972 and my centerboard is lowered by the crank that's built into the dinette post in the cabin. The hand crank allows for easy raising and lowering of the centerboard and has a simple system to securing the board in any angle. The post top cap comes off, so I can inspect the cable and also check for binding or other problems. Mark 1972 Oday 23 Green Bay, Wisconsin
