Have a frayed centerboard line near the mast when the board is up. The inner line is exposed for about one foot. I have two questions. Can I limit continued? Secondly, how do I replace? Do I need to lift my Hunter 26 out of the water?
Thank you

I stongly suggest replacing the line. It is a continous line from the top of the deck blocks down thru the compression post exiting into the centerboard trunk to the top of the centerboard. You will need to find a travel lift which to lift the boat up in order to get it out.

At the base of the compression post, are two or even one cover plates/plate that will expose the retaining bolt to the centerboard trunk housing. I believe it is 1 1/8 inches head. Un screw it. Have someone below the boat and start wiggling the centerboard and it will then drop down. Suggest two things. Place a carpet on the ground so not to damage the centerboard bottom if touching the ground and it wieghs about 175 lbs...

Also run a tracer line thru the top of the deck down thru the compression post so you can attach the new line. You wioll need 1/2 line and I suggest yacht braid and get about 20 feet. I am not sure of the exact length.

Replace line and keep a mental note how the centerboard housing and line direction are as you do not want to install backwards. Apply duck tape so the two retaining pins cannot come out of the centerboard housing. Put a little of 5200 sealant on top of the housing and then put it back into the slot of the centerboard trunk. You may have to wiggle it a little to get it up as high as you can go. Then with someone inside, thread the bolt back and do not force it because you will strip the centerboar housing threaded hole and then you will have to wait for a replacement from Hunter. The housing will go up and tighten. Inside put a dab of 5200 around the bolt so water cannot come in.

Do not try to attempt this by yourself as it is a two man operation and do not attempt this while boat is on the trailer.
