In the "YOU THINK THAT WAS DUMB!" catagory: I trailered my Hunter 212 over some bumps with the board held up with the retraction mechanism instead of lowered to sit on the trailer rest. Now it's in the up position and will not come down. My guess is that the shock of going over a bump has broken a pulley. Is there a way I can get at the problem? Do I have to get the boat raised off the trailer with a crane to pull the board down by hand? The dealer I bought the boat from is a days drive away and their backlog of repair work on big boats is LONG. I don't want to wait all summer to get this fixed!! Can you see the pulley?
Any way you can get to the pulley or winch from the inside? Could be something stupid. I would imagine that the pulley can take more punishment than a couple of bumps.

Yes, and I've made some progress
There is a cover that comes off with a couple fo screws, and yes, the pully looks fine. Not sure what the mechanism is inside though. I jacked up the back of the boat on the trailer and was able to pry down the board. It's a VERY tight fit going up AND down. I looped a long length of seatbelt webbing up over the board before letting the weight of the boat push it back in so I'll have something to use to pull it down when it's in the water. I plan to give that a try next weekend. If that works, I'll take it for a cruise and let the water moving through the slot clean it up a bit. What I need is a sandy beach with a rock or tree nearby to use as a deadman so I can pull it over with the main halyard and get a look at it without a crane. Any further suggestions are certainly welcome!!

Mine jamed at first
Last year when I first got my H212, the centerboard would not go down the first time. I was starting to panic. But I jumped up and down on the cock pit a few times making a lot of racket, then I heard it release. I've only had to do this two or three times. But my centerboard doesn't rise up off the trailer support, ever.

I must admit, I've never tried jumping up and down in the cockpit, but I assure you that I will this weekend! I never had trouble until I sailed the boat in salt water in NC. I now believe there is some gunk growing up in the slot because it is hard to get UP & DOWN when the boat is jacked up off the trailer and I can push it up and down from underneath. I hope to get it in the water this weekend if we get a break from thunderstorms.

Had similer problem
A boat I had would get sand in the centerboard and hangup. I drilled a hole in the end of the centerboard, tied a lanyard throuh it and pulled the board down under water when it jamed. Jim
