Wire/Rope Pendant is a bit tricky
I replaced my pendant last year. My boat is a 1976 and originally had a wire/rope centerboard pendant. The wire end was embedded in the centerboard, and an original style replacement would have required pulling the boat out of the water, working on it while on the crane, and doing some fiberglass repair. I talked to Rudy at D&R Marine, and he sold me an all rope centerboard pendant kit with a shackle. If this is the style that you have, call Rudy, he is a great help. Here is what I did... The most important word is SCUBA. The first thing I had to do was cut the wire where it came out of the trailing edge of the centerboard. Next, I had to drill a hole about an inch in from the trailing edge where the wire came out. As I was drilling, I hit the wire that was still in the centerboard. This was a pain to drill through, but I made it. Finally, I had to install the shackle. Originally, Rudy had sent me a screw with a lock nut. This was too wide for the centerboard trunk, and the centerboard got stuck. Rudy sent me a replacement clevis pin and cotter ring to replace the screw. This solved everything, and not it works great.
