Centerboard Help!!

Last night as I raised my centerboard I heard a noise similar to that ugly noise you here when your turnbuckles bind during mast raising as they bend. Upon inspection I found that the block that routes the centerboard line back to the cabin top was the cause. The block was still screwed into the hull, but the plate that it sits on is starting to buckle. Tonight I'm hoping to remove it for further inspection.1 Has anyone had a similar problem.2 If the threads in this plate are not stripped would 5200 be better for reattaching3 If they are stripped does anyone have any ideas on a fixI'm kind of in a bind. While my boat is in the slip I need to raise the board some because my slip is only 4 ft at low tide. My plan is to remove the block and hopefully be able to raise the board back up by pulling on the line where it exits the mast. Then cleat it off.

Raising Centerboard

You can jury rig a line to raise the centerboard.You need about 20+ feet of line. Holding on to both ends, drop it over both sides of the bow. Walk aft until the center board is caught in the line under the hull. (about 3 ft aft of the mast on the 260)Tie it off or cleat one side and pull up on the other side until you hear that reassuring thump of the board fully up in the trunk. Tie off the other side. Voila`
