I seem to have a problem lowering my centerboard all the way. If I remove the table in the cabin, will I have access to it and can I force it down. I live on the intracoastal and I presume its barnacles. Thanks, Jim

Perhaps...

though there's only a small cable slot, so it might not work. I think you'd do better by scraping out the growth from inside of the trunk before you wear away the boards sides and have to replace it. BIG $$$$$

Don' think so

I am in the process of building all the wood inside (just got a used hunter 22 with none of the wood inside) Without the table there is a roller where the rope is to lower the centerboard. You might get a small dowell rod through, 3/8. If you got it down you would still need to clean it.

crazy dave

you still have to go underneath to see what

surprisingly you have to go underneath the boat to see what is holding the center board. If it was a salt water baby, then you need to clean out barnicle bill. The suggestion to clean immediatly needs to be heeded.

Thanks guys..another question

The boat is in a slip. Are the shrouds strong enough if I were to tip the boat by pulling on a halyard to get a look underneath.

Lord, no!

Jim; If what you are suggesting is to 'tip' your H22 far enough to see the keel, then no way! Haul the boat, place in jack stands, pull the floor boards, back-out the four bolts (good luck!) and drop the board to the ground. You will find pleant of crusty creatures in the trunk that, once removed, should make the board move with ease. Be sure to sand and paint while up these. Also, the board may be damaged at the pivot point (as was mine) and in need of repair. Your may want to replace the bushing and SS pin as well (mine were worn to the bone). Check the cable attached to the board for damage as well. Its a dog of a job (at least two people) and should be done right so you do not have to do again for years (I still have nightmares 2 years later)! Someone in the archives suggested long time ago that one should place rubber on the side of the board to reduce the rubbing and noice; didnt do it and wish I had. Something to think about. E-mail with any questions - I'm listed...Seth
