Columbia 34 centerboard
Hi I've had my 34 Columbia for 3 1/2 years and have sailed down the coast with it. The cool thing about it is you can get into really shallow water. 90% of the time I have it up. The only time I really use it is going into a stiff breeze and it keeps me going straight instead of sideways or occassional when the waves are good sized and comming abeam. Theres only been one real problem with the keel and thats the noise. It will keep the boat from rolling at anchor but its kind of noisy. Also when surfing down waves it can moan and set up some vibration. After you get used to it its fine. All in all I would just as soon have a long shoal draft keel but this is the boat I've got and I'm happy with it.
