While cleaning the bottom after haul out for season, I noticed that the centerboard was down about 9" from fron to back. Does this mean the centerboard hinge bolt may be broken?

suggest that you contact ChuckWayne thru the site's email and he should be able to help you as he knows that system. He owns a 216. Thank you in advance Chuckwayne.

whoops! I answered your email before reading the thread! If the board is hanging down at an angle then your cylinder probably has air in it. look at the other thread on 216 centerboards (Dave brought it up so it's right after this one). I posted the Sailtec procedures on the site in July, it will tell you how to bleed and if needed do a fluid change.

Hi

Anyone had the piston of their hydraulic seize? I just had the whole mechanism rebuilt after the seals were done when the boat was blown iff her mooring. Now after one outing the action is stiff as it could possibly be.
Im treating it for corrosion. But it seems to be something else??

if you just had it rebuilt I'd take it back-something's not right

Thanks, Dave,
I've gained so much from our friends here I'm always happy to help!
Michael, I'd email Sailtec and ask their opinion-they are very helpful. It sounds like the pump is seized and the innards may need to be replaced

your are welcome. I wish you were close by so I could buy you a cup of moejoe. I may have stumbled onto a Hunter 26 which will be destined to a Boy Scout group that I will choose who will take care of it and is most deserviing.

Thanks again chuckwayne and crazy dave.

I've emailed SailTech and am awaiting their advice. Hoping I can avoid a replacement!

I really appreciate your clear and prompt comments.
