The cable to raise my centerboard mysteriously came loose from the centerboard while my Oday 22 (1980) was moored. Could someone tell me how the cable attaches to the board, and if I can reach it through the access from inside the boat without renting scuba gear? (Cable is not rusted or broken, just detached) I thought that I might run a line under the boat and winch up the board, then conveniently reattach the cable. Pipe dream? Obviously, I don't have an easy way to haul the boat. Have to go to the boatyard and have in "craned." david

CB Attachment

We had a 1984 222. The Centerboard (CB)bwas always a problem. Finally we changed the CB rope(pendant. At the end of the rope is a spliced shackle and clevis pin. Ther pin part goes thru a whole in the CB. It's very tough to do underwater we did ours on a short haul at a yard. also might want to replace small pulley that rope hangs from up in CB housing. All parts are available thru Rudy at DR Marine (.com)

Thanks Larry

Mine is a cable, but there is rust on the underwater end and no eye splice, so what must have happened is the spliced end has rusted off underneath and needs to be replaced. Thanks again for giving me a head start on this. david
