Does anyone know where the center of gravity is on an O'Day 23. I just put in a new lift and need to know how to position it so the weight is borne evenly on all cables.

Interesting Question?

I haven't seen this question asked yet, and I'm wondering about this lift you have. Is this at your dock? At home? Is it for longterm storage, or after each use? Excuse my ignorance. If this is any help, the original lifting ring on my 25 is mounted at the end of the keel, just ahead of the centreboard cable hole, accessable by lifting the bilge hatch board. I believe this ring was used by an overhead crane to lift the hull from its mold, so is the CG of the hull, minus the deck and accessories. Any other 23 owners have this lifting eye? Don

Purpose of Lift

In answer to your question, Don. In Tampa we have a barnacle problem that you don't have. We either have to get our boats out of the water or have a diver scrape them once a month. The lift is at my daughter's home on the Alafia River, which flows into Tampa Bay. We will be lifting it after every use. Thanks for your interest. I don't see the lifting bracket you describe.

Thanks Larry

I forget sometimes, the local conditions we sailers have to thrive in. Sounds like a neat way of beating the barnacles. Don
