Hi.I'm planning to pick up my new to me 1981 25 oday.If the rope that comes up through the cockpiy pulls the center board up what holds it down?How is it locked in place..I was told to look for weak transoms and leaky chainplates.Is there anything else?How tender are they compared to my 1973 Catalina swing keel 22 foot? Thanks in advance.

Centerboard
While it's much lighter than a swing keel, the centerboard still weighs 60 lbs. As was previously posted, Gravity does it's job. The boat is much less tender than the Catalina 22 you asked about. You'll easily heel 5 - 10 degrees, it'll take a stiff breeze to get it to 15 (where it seems to sail very comfortably).
